Men's Golf Finishes Fall Slate at Steelwood Collegiate
Oct 24, 2025 | Men's Golf
LOXLEY, Ala. – The No. 24 Texas A&M men's golf team closes the fall slate at the Steelwood Collegiate Invitational hosted by South Alabama. The event runs Saturday and Sunday at Steelwood Country Club.
The Aggies enter the tournament riding momentum from a third-place finish at the Marquette Intercollegiate at Erin Hills earlier this month. Texas A&M posted a 1-over 289 in the final round to finish tied with Florida at 26-over 890, just six shots back of champion Clemson.
"The challenge is always within," head coach Brian Kortan said. "We need to play well – our way to our standard – and the results will come. We have a great culture revolving around work ethic, competitiveness, and belief in the continual build toward becoming the team we want to be. Our answers are always rooted in that foundation."

Texas A&M enters the tournament led by Aaron Pounds, slotted No. 34 in the Scoreboard Rankings powered by Clippd. Most recently, he finished fourth at the Marquette Intercollegiate. Pounds is joined in the lineup are Wheaton Ennis, Shiv Parmar, Kris Kuvaas, and Jamie Montojo. Alex Long represents the Aggies as an individual competitor.
Steelwood County Club offers another championship-caliber test on a par-72 layout measuring just over 7,000 yards. The loop is surrounded by the natural beauty of Alabama's Gulf Coast. The event annually attracts a competitive regional field and serves as a final tune-up before the Aggies head into the spring championship season. Texas A&M faces a competitive field which includes several top-50 teams, including as Wake Forest (23), Purdue (33) and West Virginia (35). The Aggies are the lone SEC squad in the field, but nine Power Four squads are in attendance, including Virginia Tech and Wake Forest out of the ACC, the Big 10's Nebraska, Purdue and Rutgers; and Iowa State, Kansas State and West Virginia from the Big 12.
"This is a new event for us," Kortan said. "It's always exciting to see a new venue. Our mission is always the same. We compete to win. The guys have been working hard to finish the fall with our most complete three rounds."
