Aggies Host Kentucky for Regular Season Finale
Oct 24, 2025 | Soccer
BRYAN-COLLEGE STATION – The Texas A&M soccer team plays its regular season final Sunday when the Kentucky Wildcats visit Ellis Field. Kickoff is slated for 4 p.m.
Texas A&M will honor seniors Eloise Descheneaux, Leah Pirro and Bella Yakel prior to the match.
The Aggies enter the match needing some help as they hope to leap Auburn or Florida to claim a spot in the SEC Tournament. If A&M wins, the squad receives a tournament spot with either an Auburn loss or draw or a Florida loss. If the Aggies tie, they only advance to the tournament with an Auburn loss. A loss by the Maroon & White ends the 2025 campaign.
Offensively, Texas A&M (4-6-4, 1-5-1 SEC) is led by Trinity Buchanan with 12 points on five goals and two assists. Kaylee Noble has 11 points on four goals and three assists.
Yakel has played all 1,440 minutes to lead the Aggies. The center back entered the campaign as the most-seasoned Texas A&M player, having accumulated 4,132 minutes during her three seasons at Portland. The senior defender has 73 Division I caps on her resume, including 66 starts. She earned a spot on the TopDrawerSoccer Team of the Week for her efforts against Texas and Oklahoma. She scored the game-winning PK in Texas A&M's 2-1 victory over Missouri.
The Aggies own an 8-0-2 edge in the series against the Wildcats, including 7-0-2 in the SEC. Texas A&M and Kentucky played to a 1-1 draw in 2023 with Jordyn Rhodes scoring in the 40th minute for the Wildcats and Kate Colvin notching the equalizer in the 44th minute. The Aggies outscored Kentucky 13-2 in the three matches prior to that – from 2018-21. The first six meetings were decided by one goal or less with three overtime matches, including one draw.
Texas A&M beat the Wildcats, 1-0, in the 2014 SEC Tournament championship match. Shea Groom scored the match's lone goal in the 30th minute with an assist from Haley Pounds on a corner kick. Jordan Day earned the shutout with six saves.
Kentucky enters the fray with a 10-4-3 overall mark and 4-2-3 league ledger. Anna Sikorski and Alexis Tylenda own identical offensive stats with 18 points each on seven goals and four assists. Catherine Rapp has 16 points on five goals and six assists. Thaila Morsi has added five goals.
While the Wildcats offense has produced 37 goals in 17 games (2.18), the tally drops to just 12 goals in nine SEC matches (1.33). Kentucky owns SEC wins over Oklahoma (2-1), Missouri (1-0), Alabama (2-1) and South Carolina (3-2). The non-conference wins against Jackson State (4-0), West Georgia (7-0), East Tennessee State (2-1), Detroit Mercy (2-0), Purdue Fort Wayne (6-0) and Mercyhurst (3-0).
The match airs on SEC Network with Alex Perlman (play-by-play) and Marion Crowder (analyst) on the call. Fans may listen locally on 1550 AM and worldwide through the 12th Man Mobile app.
