Get to Know: Gracyn Coleman

Senior catcher, Gracyn Coleman is in her fourth season with Texas A&M. The senior from Hanford, California, started in 19 games behind the dish as a junior making 32 plate appearances for the Aggies.

What advice would you give to incoming Freshmen?
"College is different than living with your parents. Manage your time, know the difference between your responsibilities and your priorities before anything else."
 
What are your individual and team goals heading into this season?
"Individually, I'm a senior this year and really want to go out with a bang. Team goals, this is a really good group of individuals to work with. I feel we have good chemistry, we lost a lot of players, but we have also added some really talented players."
 
What makes Aggieland so special?
"During my recruitment I visited other schools but A&M felt like home. I'm from a small town and although College Station is not a small town, it is full of students where everyone is nice and respectful. The traditions also make A&M different from any other place."
 
 
Which Aggie Tradition is your favorite?
"The Aggie Ring, since other colleges don't have it. Having an Aggie Ring marries you to Aggieland, which is special."
 
How would you describe playing in front of the 12th man?
"Playing in front of the 12th Man is a very unique experience. Sports here at A&M are very big and the support system the 12th Man brings is something that can't be described."
 
How do you manage softball, school and your personal life?
"As a student athlete, it's hard to manage school and softball. For example, you have early lifts, class and then have to fit lunch in before a practice. Through my four years, it's been a struggle to deal with, but you also find a way to fit everything in. It's important to prioritize school and make sure you stay eligible to play."
 
What is your favorite part of game days?
"The locker room vibes. We have speakers in our locker room and we blast the music which is super fun. Getting ready and being with the team is also something I look forward to."
 
Which Aggie uniform is your favorite?
"The charcoal grey uniform, which was new last year. Also, the big A&M maroon uniform. Those are my two favorite ones."
 
What is your go-to walk-up song?
"I have different genres but my go-to is "The Stroke", an older rock song which I'll probably use this year. I'm also from the West Coast, so some good West Coast rap like Tupac or Ice Cube mixed in with some country are some of my go-tos."
 
 
Who from the team is most likely to forget their glove before a game?
"Larissa Perez. She has lost her glove once and I see her forgetting it again but I also don't have much of an idea since everyone is responsible with their equipment."
 
What is your favorite memory playing for Texas A&M?
"My sophomore year when we hosted regionals and played Texas State. It was a really fun experience. The stands were full, the 12th Man showed out and it's a memory I'll never forget. Beating Texas 14-2 in the SEC Tournament is also a core memory."
 
 
What is your major and what do you plan on doing with it?
"I'm majoring in sports management. I've talked to my scholastic supervisor about my next steps after graduation. As of now, I plan on working in the sports industry either here or at a different university where I can get my master's. I'm interested in being a director of operations or recruiting director for any given sport."
