Reed, Howell Earn SEC Weekly Honors After LSU Blowout
Oct 27, 2025 | Football
BIRMINGHAM – Texas A&M's Marcel Reed and Cashius Howell earned SEC weekly honors on Monday for their standout efforts in the No. 3 Aggies' 49-25 road victory over then-No. 20 LSU, the league office announced.
Reed earned his first SEC Offensive Player of the Week award, while Howell was named the Defensive Lineman of the Week for the third time in 2025. Texas A&M has won the league's weekly defensive lineman award five times this season.
Reed, a redshirt sophomore quarterback from Nashville, logged his first career game with two passing and
rushing touchdowns as he accounted for four scores against the Tigers. He was the first Aggie to tally a pair of rushing and passing scores in a true road game since Johnny Manziel did it against Auburn in his Heisman Trophy season in 2012. Reed rushed for a career-high 108 rushing yards on 13 carries while passing for 202 yards on 12-
of-21 attempts for a total offense output of 310 yards.
Howell, a senior defensive end from Kansas City, Missouri, added to his SEC-best sacks total with a pair of takedowns against LSU. It was Howell's third game with 2.0-plus sacks, which hadn't been done by an Aggie in a season since 2017. His 9.5 total sacks rank No.3 nationally and are the most by an Aggie since 2017.
Texas A&M returns to action on Nov. 8 when the Aggies close out their current three-game road swing against the Missouri Tigers in Columbia.
