Women’s Swimming & Diving Faces Houston Cougars in Road Dual

HOUSTON – The Texas A&M women's swimming & diving team faces the Houston Cougars in a 1:30 p.m. dual meet on Thursday at the CRWC Natatorium on the UH campus.
The Aggies are coming off a successful weekend in Dallas against SMU, where the women's squad secured first-place finishes in 12 of 18 possible events. Leading the way was fifth-year senior Kaitlyn Owens, who won the 100 backstroke in 53.27 and the 50 freestyle in 22.48 while contributing legs on a pair of winning relays. Senior Giulia Goerigk also contributed a pair of individual victories with wins in the 200 IM (2:01.91) and the 400 IM (4:18.29).
Chipping in solo swim victories against the Mustangs were junior Katie Walker, junior Ava Whitaker, sophomore Ella McQuinn and junior Rachel Love. Walker posted a win in the 500 free in 4:56.61; Whitaker took first in the 100 fly in 53.07; McQuinn touched first in the 200 free in 1:46.95; and Love posted a win in the 1,000 free in 10:04.82.
Additionally, sophomore diver Gabby Filzen won the 3-meter springboard with a score of 283.50 and senior Joslyn Oakley won the 1-meter with a score of 267.60.
