No. 4 Texas A&M Finishes Second at NB3 Matchplay
Oct 08, 2025 | Women's Golf
SANTA ANA PUEBLO, N.M. – The No. 4 Texas A&M women's golf team wrapped up play at the NB3 Matchplay at Twin Warriors, falling to Arizona 3.5-1.5 in the championship match Wednesday afternoon. The Aggies finished as the runners-up at the event with 9.5 points.
"We had our chances today against a good Arizona team and didn't get the job done," head coach Gerrod Chadwell said. "We had the momentum going before we got called off for the rain delay and just didn't come out sharp enough to get those last two matches across the finish line. We got the experience we needed this week to make things more meaningful at home and this week will come in valuable for us in April and May!"
Vanessa Borovilos put up the first point of the day with a commanding 5&4 victory over Arizona's Angela Arora. Borovilos won the first two holes and remained in control the rest of the way, eventually taking three of the final four holes for the win.
Arizona got on the board as Nena Wongthanavimok topped Natalie Yen, 2&1. Louise Reau held an early lead through hole 6, but was unable to close it out and fell to Kinsley Ni, 4&2, to give the Wildcats their first lead.
The Maroon & White built some momentum before weather delayed play late in the day. Cayetana Fernandez Garcia-Poggio won two holes to take the lead with three left to play and Scarlett Schremmer, who was down two through 11, claimed two of the next three to tie things up when action was paused. Returning from the break, Schremmer was unable to hold on and dropped two of the last three holes, falling to Julia Misemer, 2&1. Fernandez Garcia-Poggio let Charlotte Back take 16 to even things up and the pair tied the final hole to split the point.
The Aggies return to action Oct. 19-20 when they head to San Marcos, Texas for the Jim West Invitational.
