BIRMINGHAM – Texas A&M's Daymion Sanford and Cashius Howell earned SEC weekly honors on Monday for their standout defensive performances in the No. 3 Aggies' 38-17 road win over then-No. 19 Missouri on Saturday, the league office announced.
Sanford earned SEC Defensive Player of the Week honors, while Howell received Defensive Lineman of the Week kudos for the fourth time this season. Texas A&M has won the defensive line weekly honor six times in 2025. The Aggies shut out Missouri in the first half and held the Tigers to their lowest point total at home since 2022 in the victory.
Sanford, a junior linebacker from Katy, Texas, forced a pivotal turnover late in the second quarter that the Aggies converted into a touchdown and 14-point lead entering halftime. The fumble from Sanford's strip-sack was grabbed in mid-air by safety Dalton Brooks and returned 26 yards to the Missouri 2-yard line. For the game, Sanford had five tackles, including a game-high 2.0 tackles for loss, a sack and a forced fumble.
Howell, a senior defensive end from Kansas City, Missouri, was disruptive in his return to his home state. The SEC sack leader posted a strip-sack of his own and a QB hurry, while tallying a season-high five tackles.
Texas A&M is back at home for the first time in over a month as the 9-0 Aggies host South Carolina in an 11 a.m. matchup at Kyle Field on Saturday.
