Nov 14, 2025 | Volleyball
BRYAN-COLLEGE STATION – The Texas A&M volleyball team inked five athletes to the 2026 recruiting class, head coach Jamie Morrison announced Friday.
"We value well rounded athletes and human beings in this program, and this class is the epitome of that," Morrison said. "They're proud to be Aggies and can't wait to represent the Maroon and White. I couldn't be more excited to finally introduce them to the 12th Man."
The class features a libero in Gabi Rodriguez, one defensive specialist in Jenna Thedford, two pins in Sara Bowcutt and Brooke Lacewell and middle blocker Lolufe Adedeji. All five have played high school and club volleyball at the highest levels and made their mark on nationally talented teams.
Gabi Rodriguez – Libero/Defensive Specialist
Tabbed as the No. 13 overall recruit and No. 2 libero in the 2026 class by Prep Volleyball, Rodriguez brings a wealth of experience at the highest levels to Aggieland. The McKinney, Texas, native served as the women's national team's libero for the U21 FIVB World Championships held in Indonesia, she helped propel the Red, White and Blue to a ninth-place finish.
"Gabi [Rodriguez] is a really exciting addition to our program," Morrison added. "She earned the right to represent the United States on our U21 roster proving she is one of the best Liberos in the country. She brings a mix of serve receive, defense and setting that will help make our backcourt one of the best in college volleyball."
She prepared to join the Aggies after playing a playing career at McKinney North High School and MadFrog Volleyball Club. During her time with the two squads, she accumulated a plethora of honors, including being named the DFW Defensive Player of the Year, Texas Sports Writers All-State 1st Team/Libero of the Year and was named to the All-District First Team all four years of her high school career.
Jenna Thedford – Defensive Specialist
Adding more nationally recognized talent to the backrow, Thedford is listed as a top-150 recruit and a top-25 defensive specialist according to Prep Volleyball. The in-state talent was a four-year varsity letterman and brings a wealth of experience playing in high-pressure situations, as she won a national championship at the U17 level.
"One thing that stands out about Jenna [Thedford] is that she is tenacious competitor," Morrison continued. "She's a proven winner with a high motor and brings a skillset that has won a national championship at the 17 and under level. We can't wait to get her to Aggieland."
Thedford has experience playing and winning at the highest level, as she helped Houston Skyline claim the 2025 17 Open USA Volleyball national title, while also being named a two-time Defensive Player of the Year in 2025 and 2024.
Sara Bowcutt – Outside Hitter
Bringing a highly touted arm to the Brazos Valley, Lacewell lands as the No. 76 national recruit on Prep Dig's rankings and top-30 among outside hitters. The pin has been productive since her first year of high school volleyball, as she was named Freshman of the year and was named to the All-Region First Team all four years of her career.
"Something we value highly in our program are well rounded volleyball players and Sara [Bowcutt] is just that," Morrison continued. "She is a dynamic athlete that can play the entire game. She will add a lot to our team on the court as an athlete and off as an amazing human."
Bowcutt also was a standout for her club team, Arizona Storm Elite, as she was named to the All-Tournament Team at the USA Volleyball Junior National Championships which were held 2023 and was recently named Region Player of the Year.
Brooke Lacewell – Opposite Hitter
The Maroon & White add a talented pin attacking from the right side to the 2026 class, as Lacewell ranks nationally as the No. 106 recruit and stands at No. 10 among opposite hitters according to Prep Volleyball. Along with her ability, she brings leadership to the Aggies after being named a team captain for her high school and guiding them to a win in the regional semifinals.
"Brooke [Lacewell] brings one of the best arms in the country to Aggieland," Morrison added. "She has developed into an all-around volleyball player with success at the club level. In addition to her play, she brings a fire and positive energy that the 12th Man will rally behind."
Making her presence felt on the club level, Lacewell was named to the Junior Volleyball Association's Watchlist for the 2024 season, as well as being added to the USA Volleyball Junior National Championship All-Tournament Team.
Lolufe Adedeji – Middle Blocker
Rounding out the group, Adedeji is a force in the middle of the court with impressive versatility on offense and defense. She was recently added to the USA Volleyball's National Training Development Program as well as being tabbed the Central Oklahoma Athletics Conference's Player of the Year in 2025 and Offensive Player of the Year in 2024.
"Lolufe [Adedeji] is an extremely dynamic athlete that will be a presence in the middle of the court," Morrison said. "She has a well-rounded offensive game and is elite off one leg behind the setter. Her blocking also stands out, and I know she will fit into our system perfectly."
Adedeji is no stranger to earning honors for her club team, as the middle blocker 2024 AAU All-Tournament Team. She also helped her team reach the highest levels, as she spearheaded Oklahoma Peak to the 2024 Lone Star Qualifier Championship title.
