BRYAN-COLLEGE STATION – The No. 6 Texas A&M volleyball team closes its regular season slate at Reed Arena versus Georgia with first serve set for 12 p.m.
The Aggies gear up for their regular season finale, riding a nine-match win streak after powering past Florida on Wednesday in a 3-0 sweep in Gainesville. The victory marked the first sweep of the Gators in program history and 13th straight-set win on the year.
Texas A&M's offense continued to fire on all cylinders under the direction of setter Maddie Waak, as she turned in another strong performance with 32 assists, 10 digs and two aces in the midweek win. Her efforts helped the Maroon & White hit .348 as a group, while holding Florida to just .167 on the other side of the net.
Logan Lednicky headlined the attack, finishing with 14 kills on a .423 clip to extend her double-digit kill streak to 14 straight outings. On the defensive end, Ifenna Cos-Okpalla remained a force at the net, tallying seven blocks to record her 13th match this season with five or more.
The Matchups
Sunday marks the 30th all-time meeting between Texas A&M and Georgia, with the Aggies holding a 21-8 advantage in the series and coming off a 3-1 win over the Bulldogs inside Reed Arena last season.
The Maroon & White enter the match 21-3 overall and 13-1 in SEC play, while the Bulldogs sit at 16-8 overall and 8-6 in conference action. A&M has dropped only one match at home this year, while Georgia holds a 6-4 mark in road contests.
On the stat sheet, the Aggies lead the Bulldogs in hitting percentage, opponent hitting percentage, kills per set and assists per set, while Georgia holds the advantage in aces per set, digs per set and blocks per set.
Tracks and Trends
If Texas A&M wins Sunday, the 22-3 record would be their best through 25 games since 1984.
Maddie Waak is 28 assists from 1,000 on the season, once she reaches that milestone, she will be the first Aggie with consecutive 1,000 assists seasons since Camille Conner in 2018 and 2019.
Logan Lednicky has recorded double digit kills in all 14 conference matches this season.
The Aggies have recorded back-to-back games hitting over .300 percent.
Ifenna Cos-Okpalla is eight blocks from reaching 150 on the season, if she reaches the milestone, it would mark her third-straight season eclipsing the number which would make her the first Aggie to do so since 1985.
