No. 3 Texas A&M Rolls Past Samford, 48-0

Redshirt sophomore quarterback Marcel Reed made the start and finished his limited action throwing for 120 yards on 10-of-15 passing, connecting on three touchdown strikes. Texas A&M (11-0) saw four quarterbacks register snaps in the win over the Bulldogs (1-11). Redshirt senior running back Amari Daniels led the ground attack with a career-high 106 yards on nine attempts, scoring his first touchdown of the season. Redshirt freshman wide receiver Ashton Bethel-Roman paced all receivers with 62 yards and a pair of touchdown grabs, while junior wide receiver KC Concepcion added five catches for 42 yards and touchdown.
Freshman defensive end Marco Jones led the defense with seven tackles in the victory, including one for a 4-yard loss, and freshman linebacker Noah Mikhail added six takedowns.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Texas A&M got on the board first when Reed connected with Bethel-Roman on a 3-yard toss to the end zone with 11:43 on the clock in the first quarter to put the Aggies up 7-0 following a Jared Zirkel extra point.
- Concepcion made it 14-0 Aggies, when he took a 6-yard pass from Reed to the house with just under four minutes to play in the opening quarter.
- Bethel-Roman and Reed connected for a second time in the closing seconds of the first period when Reed sent a 58-yard bomb down the field and Bethel-Roman went straight to the end zone to make it 21-0.
- Daniels continued the offensive push for the Maroon & White with a 1-yard plunge into the end zone to start the second quarter and extend the lead, 28-0.
- Zirkel closed out the first-half scoring when he sailed a 25-yard field goal through the uprights with three seconds on the clock to give Texas A&M a 31-0 advantage at the break.
- The Aggies tacked on their fifth touchdown of the day when Tiger Riden Jr. used a 1-yard lunge into the end zone to make it 38-0 with 8:23 on the clock in the third quarter.
- Following a blocked Samford field goal attempt, Zirkel connected on a 39-yard field goal to move the score to 41-0 at the start of the fourth quarter.
- Preston Landis closed out the scoring for the Aggies with a 2-yard run into the end zone to extend the lead to 48-0.
- The Aggies completed their first-ever perfect 7-0 home worksheet. It was the first undefeated home worksheet since the pandemic-altered 2020 schedule when the Aggies were 4-0 at Kyle Field. It was Texas A&M's first undefeated home slate in a full season since R.C. Slocum's Aggies posted three-straight 6-0 home schedules from 1997-99.
- It was the first shutout of the Mike Elko era at Texas A&M and the first by the Aggies since a 31-0 victory over Sam Houston in the 2022 season-opener.
- The Aggies improved to 11-0 for the ?rst time since 1992.
- Today's attendance of 104,877 marked the Aggies' 10th straight home crowd of 100,000-plus. Additionally, Texas A&M shattered season records for average and cumulative home attendance with an average of 106,159 and 743,113 total in seven home contests. It was the sixth time Texas A&M has drawn more than 700,000 fans through the gates at Kyle Field.
- Texas A&M rolled to 475 total yards, marking the team's 10th straight game with 400-plus yards. It is the team's longest streak of 400-plus games in a season since Heisman Trophy winner Johnny Manziel directed the Maroon & White offense to 13 straight in 2012.
- Redshirt sophomore QB Marcel Reed completed 10-of-15 passes for 120 yards and three touchdowns, including a 58-yard strike to freshman WR Ashton Bethel-Roman. It marked Reed's fifth game this season with at least three scoring strikes.
- The defense limited Samford to 77 total yards, the lowest offensive output by an opponent since 1996 when the "Wrecking Crew" allowed just 70 yards in a 55-0 win over North Texas. The Bulldogs were held to 31 rushing yards and 46 passing yards.
- Redshirt sophomore P Tyler White averaged 44.7 yards on three punts and all three were downed inside the Samford 20-yard line.
- Freshman DT Landon Rink produced his first career block when he batted down a third-quarter Samford field goal attempt. It was the first block by an Aggie since Shemar Turner in 2023. Junior CB Jayvon Thomas returned the block 41 yards.
Texas A&M travels to Austin to wrap up the regular season with the Cotton Holdings Lone Star Showdown against Texas on Friday, Nov. 28. Kick is set for 6:30 p.m. CT on ABC.
