
Reed Named Earl Campbell Tyler Rose Award Finalist

TYLER, Texas – Texas A&M quarterback Marcel Reed has been named a finalist for the Earl Campbell Tyler Rose Award, the award committee announced Thursday.
Reed led the Aggies to 11 regular season wins, the program's most since 1992, including a school-record three road victories over Associated Press Top 25 opponents. The redshirt sophomore has accounted for 31 touchdowns with 25 passing and six rushing, a total that ranks tied for 13th nationally and third in the SEC. His 25 passing touchdowns stand tied for 15th nationally and third in the conference.
The dual-threat playmaker is averaging 8.0 yards per play, which ranks 11th nationally and second in the SEC. Reed has produced 50 plays of 20 yards or more, with 44 through the air and six on the ground.
A native of Nashville, Tennessee, Reed ranks second nationally with a 14.0-yard average per completion against ranked opponents and is one of three quarterbacks averaging more than 8.0 yards per attempt against AP Top 25 teams. He is averaging 299.3 yards per game in those matchups, which ranks fifth nationally among players with at least three games against ranked opponents.
Reed has thrown for 2,932 yards on 209-of-338 passing with 25 touchdowns. He has added 466 rushing yards on 89 carries with six scores.
The winner will be announced in late December and honored at an award banquet in Tyler, Texas on January 21, 2026. The emcee is Brian Jones, college football studio analyst for CBS Sports and CBS Sports Network. Individual tickets/Open Seating will be available on Eventbrite.

The Earl Campbell Tyler Rose Award, announced in 2012 by the Tyler Chamber and SPORTyler, recognizes the top offensive player in Division I football who also exhibits the enduring characteristics that define Earl Campbell: integrity, performance, teamwork, sportsmanship, drive, community, and tenacity; specifically tenacity to persist and determination to overcome adversity and injury in pursuit of reaching goals.
In addition, the nominee must meet one or more of the following criteria: Played football and graduated from a Texas High School and/or playing at a four-year Division I Texas college.
