Four Aggies Receive AVCA All-America Honors

LEXINGTON – Four members of the Texas A&M volleyball team secured All-America honors, the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) announced Wednesday.
The Aggies earned a program record four All-America accolades, following the first NCAA Tournament Final Four berth in school history. Ifenna Cos-Okpalla and Logan Lednicky made it back-to-back years garnering national recognition, while Kyndal Stowers and Maddie Waak claimed their first honors. The Maroon & White were one of four schools in the country to have four athletes land in the All-America honors.
Cos-Okpalla headlines the group, as she became the fourth-ever member of the Maroon & White to be named a First Team All-American and first since 2005. The middle blocker has dominated in all aspects of the game this season, but her blocking took center stage stuffing 190 swings so far this year which ties the single season record at Texas A&M. She averages 1.70 blocks per set which ranks second all-time for the Aggies and first in the rally-scoring era. Offensively, she has 228 kills this season and is hitting at a staggering .426 percent efficiency, while also tacking on a team-high 40 aces to rack up an impressive 373.5 points on the year.
Lednicky landed on the All-America Second Team for the second-consecutive season, making her only the third member of the Maroon & White to do so in team history. The opposite hitter has paced the Aggies offensively this season, recording 442 kills on the year while hitting at .311 percent. Lednicky cemented herself as one of the program's greatest attackers, as she broke the program record for career kills in the rally-scoring era in the teams Elite Eight matchup versus No. 1 Nebraska. The Sugar Land, Texas, native also leads the team in points with 506, courtesy of her kills paired with 96 blocks and 15 aces.
Stowers makes her debut appearance on the All-America list, securing Second Team honors. She is one of only four underclassmen to rank in the top two teams of the AVCA's awards this year. The outside hitter has recorded 359 kills this season, averaging 3.45 per frame and hitting at .276 percent. Defensively, the Denton, Texas, native added 236 digs and 61 blocks to her yearly stats, while leading the SEC in passer rating throughout conference play with a 2.38 grade.
Waak rounds out the group earning Third Team accolades after orchestrating the offense to one of the most productive seasons in program history. The setter has dished 1,280 assists on the year, which broke the program's rally-scoring record and is the most in one year since 2002. She became the first Aggie setter to record back-to-back 1,000 assists season since 2019 and has paced the nation in assists per set since September averaging 11.43 per frame.
