Men’s Basketball Rolls Past Prairie View, 111-82

BRYAN-COLLEGE STATION – The Texas A&M men's basketball team downed Prairie View, 111-82, at Reed Arena Monday night to close out non-conference play and set a new school record with its sixth 100-point game of the season.

BRYAN-COLLEGE STATION – The Texas A&M men's basketball team downed Prairie View, 111-82, at Reed Arena Monday night to close out non-conference play and set a new school record with its sixth 100-point game of the season. 
 
The Aggies (10-3) took control early and used a 17-2 run to go up 23-7 with 14:06 on the clock, forcing Prairie View (5-8) to call an early timeout. Texas A&M continued to push and got the difference to 20 before the midway point in the half, eventually taking a 60-39 lead into the break. 
 
The Maroon & White shot an impressive 68-percent (23-34) from the field in the first half. Rashaun Agee led the way with 15 points, knocking down two of the team's six 3-pointers, while Marcus Hill added 10 points in the opening period. 
 
Six early points from Hill and a 3-pointer from Rubén Dominguez helped the Aggies extend their advantage to 30 points in the first five minutes of the new half. The Panthers continued to fight and put together a 16-3 run of their own to make it 94-73 with under seven minutes to play, but Texas A&M halted the spree and closed out the victory. 
 
Agee led five Aggies in double figures with 19 points and 13 rebounds, while Hill added 16 points. Texas A&M outrebounded the Panthers 50-36 and scored 52 of its points in the paint.

Texas A&M remains at home to open conference play on Saturday, Jan. 3, taking on LSU at 3 p.m. on ESPNU.

  • Texas A&M set a new record for the most 100-point games in a season with its sixth 100-point performance of the year. 
  • The Maroon & White made it three straight 100-point victories for the first time since the 1978-79 season.
  • The Aggies' 60-point first half total marked the fifth time this season they have scored at least 60 points in a period.
  • The bench tallied 45 of the team's 111 points, marking the ninth time this season non-starters have accrued 40-or-more points in a game. 
  • The Maroon & White scored over 50 points in the paint for the third straight game, finishing with 52.  
  • The Aggies tallied 21 assists in the win, marking the 10th time this season they have registered 20-plus assists in a game.

#0 Marcus Hill
  • Was 5-of-6 from the field to register his third 15+ point game of the season, finishing with 16 against the Lions. 
#1 Josh Holloway 
  • Chipped in 10 points to reach double digits for the fifth time this season. 
#2 Pop Isaacs 
  • Added 13 points to score in double figures for the fifth time this season. 
#3 Rylan Griffen
  • Filled out the stat sheet with eight points, four rebounds, five assists and a career-high six steals. 
  • Tallied five assists for the third time in the last four games. 
#9 Rubén Dominguez
  • Added 14 points, knocking down at least three 3-pointers for the ninth time this season. 
#12 Rashaun Agee
  • Registered his fifth double-double of the year and 26th of his career with 19 points and 13 boards. 
  • Surpassed the 750 career rebounds mark, upping his career total to 757.
