Feb 14, 2025 | Men's Tennis
DALLAS – The No. 14 Texas A&M men's tennis team dropped a hard-fought 4-1 decision to the third-ranked Texas Longhorns in the opening round of the ITA National Team Indoors Championships at the Styslinger/Altec Tennis Complex on Friday.
Texas A&M (3-3) opened strong against Texas (8-1), with Theo Papamalamis and Togan Tokac claiming a ranked win over the No. 5 duo of Lucas Brown and Timo Legout on court 1. The Longhorns responded by claiming the other two courts to clinch the doubles point.
Texas kept its momentum in singles action, claiming both courts 3 and 1 to put them one short of the win. Senior JC Roddick fought back, claiming the only singles point for the Maroon & White on court 2 versus No. 10 Sebastian Gorzny, 6-4, 7-5. Moments later, Lucas Brown clinched the win for the Longhorns on court 6.
