COACH'S QUOTES
Head coach Mark Weaver
On the team's fight…
"Just incredible heart and fight by our group. That was a story book ending there. I've been doing this a long time, 26 years of coaching, this one is definitely up there at the top. To be down 3-0, to come into Austin and beat one of the best teams in the nation – what a team effort. The girls really pulled through.
On the team stepping up to the challenge…
"My big challenge for them today was about how tough can we be. How gritty can we be and how much can we fight today, and that's what it ultimately came down to. I'm so proud of them, they just played like champions today. It was all about playing with your heart today, and this one was truly one for the ages. If you've never seen a college tennis match, you should have seen that one. Just truly some of the most exciting, exhilarating competition you'll ever see in any sport."
Junior Daria Smetannikov
On clinching the match…
"It was unreal, I knew that I was the final match, and it was a surreal feeling. It's my first time ever clinching and to do it against Texas at their home court, it was unreal. I felt the momentum swinging back for sure. When I saw Mia won, Lexington won and Lucciana was coming back, I was like we can do this right now."
