Borovilos Wins Chevron Collegiate; Leads Team to Runner-Up Finish

HUMBLE, Texas – The No. 17 Texas A&M Women's Golf Team was led by freshman Vanessa Borovilos who took home her first individual title with a 15-under 201 and propelled the Aggies to a runner-up finish at the Golf Club of Houston Tuesday.
"This was another step in the right direction," Head Coach Gerrod Chadwell said. "We were in position to win today but just got beat after a slow start. Hats off to TCU, but we got better this week and that's all that matters. Moving forward, we need to continue to clean up the little things on the last day. Vanessa was phenomenal. Going bogey free over 54 holes is something I do not think I have ever seen."
Borovilos (-15) won the championship by two strokes over TCU's Camille Min-Gaultier who shot a 7-under 65 in round three to threaten for the crown. No. 16 TCU won the team title (-34) but No. 17 Texas A&M (-25) outplayed No. 1 Arkansas (-24) and No. 12 Mississippi State (-19) to claim second place.
Borovilos fired a 5-under 67 in every round of the tournament and went bogey free all 54 holes to claim the championship. The Ontario, Canada, native locked up her place at the top of the leaderboard with an eagle on the par-5 No. 13.
Cayetana Fernández García-Poggio earned a share of third at 10-under 206. The Madrid, Spain, native carded a 2-under 68 in round three to secure her place in the top five.
Kynadie Adams went 1-over 217 at the tournament and tied for 41st. Lauren Nguyen and Mia Nixon round out the group tied for 57th and 64th, respectively.
