Borovilos in Contention; Aggies Tied for Third at Clover Cup
Mar 11, 2025 | Women's Golf
LITCHFIELD PARK, Ariz. – The No. 16 Texas A&M women's golf team was tied for third at the Clover Cup after two rounds with freshman Vanessa Borovilos leading the way in solo fourth at the par-70 Wigwam Resort golf course Tuesday.
"We weathered the storm through the front nine but lost a lot of momentum on the back," Head Coach Gerrod Chadwell said. "We still have 18 holes and seeing what Clemson did today shows everyone that that kind of score is out there. We are making mistakes on the little things and just need to clean those up to put up a really good score. We do a lot of great stuff during the round which is encouraging, but we need to fix a few things in order to play our best."
The Aggies shot 2-over 282 on day two and fell behind No. 8 Arizona State (-7) seven shots. Clemson took command of second place (-5), while Texas A&M and Indiana were knotted up at even par thru 36 holes.
Borovilos shot a 31 on the front nine and ended the day with a 2-under 68 and 3-under 137 for the week. She was two shots behind Maddie May of Indiana and Arizona State's Beth Coulter. If Borovilos were to win the individual title, it would be her second straight championship, and she would become the first Aggie to win back-to-back crowns since Maddie Szeryk during the 2017-18 season.
Lauren Nguyen also shot a 2-under 68 and jumped all the way into a tie for 15th, up 21 spots from the first round. Cayetana Fernández García-Poggio shot 3-over 73 on Tuesday but still held onto a piece of 11th.
Sky Sudberry was the final counter for the Aggies at 3-under 73 and was tied for 27th. Kynadie Adams rounded out the lineup tied for 20th after shooting 8-over 78 in round two. Mia Nixon climbed 17 spots on the individual leaderboard and was knotted up for 25th after firing an even-par round as an individual.
The Aggies tee off at 12:06 p.m. to begin the final round on Wednesday. Live stats can be found here.
