Mar 15, 2025 | Softball
AUBURN – After trailing 2-1 in the opening frame, the No. 6 Texas A&M softball team scored 12 unanswered runs to run-rule No. 22 Auburn, 13-2, to claim the road series Saturday at Jane B. Moore Field.
Texas A&M (23-4, 3-2 SEC) scored in each inning, including crooked frames in the second, third and fifth. The Maroon & White registered a season-high 14 hits, while eight different Aggies recorded a hit. Amari Harper led the offensive firepower going 3-for-4 at the dish with a home run, two RBI and two runs, while Mya Perez added three RBI, including a 2-RBI single and a sac fly. Sidne Peters (6-0) remained undefeated on the season going 4.0 innings with five strikeouts, while yielding two runs on two hits and two walks.
Koko Wooley singled to lead off the game and stole second before scoring the game's first run via sac fly from Perez. Auburn answered with two runs on one hit and one error as the Aggies trailed 2-1 after the opening frame.
Ol' Sarge's charges took a commanding lead, 7-1, after plating four runs in the second and two in the third. The Aggies took advantage of Auburn (20-7, 0-5 SEC) miscues scoring five of the six runs as unearned. After allowing a pair of runs in the first inning, Peters settled down and retired nine of the next 10 batters she faced.
The Maroon & White added a run in the fourth after Harper hit an oppo taco for her second home run in as many days. Threatening to enter run-rule territory, the Aggies sent nine batters to plate to score five runs on four hits and one error in the fifth inning.
Emily Leavitt entered the circle to close out the game finishing with fifth with a strikeout, fly out and ground out, while yielding two walks.
