MEET PREVIEW: UTSA Invitational
Mar 19, 2025 | Track and Field
SAN ANTONIO – The Texas A&M track & field team opens its outdoor campaign with the UTSA Invitational at the Park West Athletic Complex March 21-22, with events starting at 10 a.m. on Friday and 11 a.m. on Saturday.
The Aggies kickoff their 12-meet outdoor schedule on the road at the UTSA Invitational, as they send a team of 68 athletes to the home of the Roadrunner's. The women will compete across 16 different events, while the men tackle 14.
A&M historically has been a force outdoor, as eight of the program's nine NCAA team titles have come outdoors. Last season the Maroon & White claimed a pair of top-10 finishes at the national championships, as the men placed fifth and the women 10th. Each side of the team had an NCAA champion, with the men's 4x400m relay quartet of Jevon O'Bryant, Cutler Zamzow, Kimar Farquharson and Auhmad Robinson won the 4x400m with a school-record time of 2:58.37. On the women's side, Timara Chapman strung together the second-best heptathlon performance in Aggie history, recording a total of 6,339 points to win her national crown.
2025 Indoor Recap
The Maroon & White's men captured their first SEC indoor team title while competing at home, claiming five gold medals, three silver and one bronze. The women also recorded a top-five finish, securing one gold, two silvers and one bronze.
At the NCAA Indoor Championships, the women placed seventh with 27 points. Auhmad Robinson's third-place finish in the 400m highlighted the men's group, as they also secured points through a pair of fourth-place results courtesy of the distance medley relay team and Aleksandr Solovev in the pole vault and two seventh-place results by Ja'Qualon Scott in the 60m hurdles and Antonie Nortje in the 400m.
The team as a whole also downed nine schooled records throughout the season, including both the men's and women's 60m hurdles thanks to Scott and Covington, respectively.
