Aggies Drop Game Two, 2-1, to No. 24 Alabama
Mar 22, 2025 | Softball
BRYAN-COLLEGE STATION – The No. 6 Texas A&M softball team fell to No. 24 Alabama, 2-1, in game two Saturday at Davis Diamond.
Texas A&M (25-5, 5-3 SEC) scored its lone run in the game in the opening frame after Kennedy Powell singled and stole a pair of bases before Amari Harper drove her in. Alabama (22-11, 2-3 SEC) capitalized on Aggie miscues as the leadoff batter of the game reached on a fielding error and advanced to third on a throwing error while stealing second base before scoring via sac fly.
The Aggies threatened in the third frame as Koko Wooley doubled and advanced 60 feet on a ground out before the Crimson Tide forced a second straight ground out to end the inning. Alabama took a 2-1 lead in the ensuing inning after a solo jack to center field.
Aggie starter Sydney Lessentine was saddled with her first loss of the season after going 4.0 innings with five strikeouts, while yielding three walks, two hits and two runs.
The Maroon & White registered a hit in all but the sixth inning, while leaving a total of six base runners on base.
NEXT UP
Sunday's rubber match is slated for 1 p.m. on SECN+ with Will Johnson (play-by-play) and Tori Vidales on the call.
