Prager Deals, Offense Explodes as No. 14 Aggies Blank New Mexico State, 19-0
Mar 07, 2025 | Baseball
BRYAN-COLLEGE STATION – Ryan Prager tossed his second career complete game shutout and the offense pounded out a season-high 18 hits as the No. 14 Texas A&M baseball team run-ruled New Mexico State 19-0 in seven innings Friday night at Olsen Field at Blue Bell Park.
The shutout marked the first of the season for the Aggies (8-5), while the 19 runs were a season high.
Prager struck out seven batters and allowed only three hits over seven scoreless frames. In his three home starts this season, the left-hander has yet to yield a run in 17 innings of work. The redshirt junior also became the 21st member of the 200-strikeout club at Texas A&M following his third punchout of the game in the fourth.
All nine batters in the lineup recorded a hit for the Maroon & White, while six of them logged a multi-hit effort. Gavin Kash led the way with a 3-for-5 performance to go along with a homer, two doubles and a season-high five RBI. Jace LaViolette followed with four RBI of his own after finishing 2-for-4 at the dish to go along with a homer.
Terrence Kiel II and Hayden Schott joined Kash with three hits on the night as the duo each went 3-for-5 at the plate.
The Aggies posted a crooked number in the opening frame as three runs came across to score. With runners on the corners and one out, Kash plated the first run of the game with an RBI double to right center. Kiel followed with an RBI groundout before Schott pushed across the final run of the frame with an RBI infield single.
The Maroon & White's bats stayed hot in the second as four more runs came around to score, stretching the lead to 7-0. A two-run double from Kaeden Kent and a two-run home run from Wyatt Henseler accounted for the scoring in the frame. Henseler's two-run blast was his fourth of the season and traveled 387 feet to left.
In the third, Texas A&M piled on three more runs to extend its advantage to 10-0. A New Mexico State (7-6) miscue accounted for the first run of the frame as Jamal George crossed the plate on a fielding error. Following the misplay, LaViolette belted a two-run homer to right center that traveled 391 feet and left the bat at 105 mph.
The offense continued to fire on all cylinders in the fourth as the lead ballooned to 18-0 following eight more runs crossing the plate. Jacob Galloway, LaViolette and Schott each tallied an RBI in the frame before Kash capped off the inning with a grand slam to Section 12 in right that traveled 392 feet. The homer was the senior's first at Blue Bell Park.
The Aggies added one more to their tally in the sixth as a Kiel RBI single scored Sam Erickson, who pinch-ran for LaViolette.
