INDIAN WELLS, Calif. – Texas A&M women's tennis All-American Mary Stoiana claimed the prestigious UTR Foundation Hurd Award, the organization announced Sunday at the BNP Paribas Open.
The UTR Foundation Hurd Award includes a $100,000 grant given to a male and female American tennis player to help them transition from collegiate to professional tennis. The award is made possible by a gift from the Hurd family. Originally christened the Oracle U.S. Tennis Awards, the recognition has been bestowed annually since 2017.

The reigning ITA National Player of the Year, Stoiana is in the last season of the Aggies' most successful tennis career. She recently became Texas A&M's all-time leader in singles wins and now has 125 victories. Stoiana has also amassed 84 doubles victories.
The Southbury, Connecticut, native powered the Aggies to their first national championship in program history last season as well as leading the Maroon & White to their third-consecutive SEC regular season title. Among her plethora of other honors, she claimed the Honda Award, back-to-back SEC Player of the Year honors, NCAA Tournament MVP and NCAA All-Tournament Team accolades in singles and doubles.

Stoiana was propelled to the top spot after becoming A&M's first player to win the ITA All-American Championships. She also reached No. 2 in doubles rankings in May 4, 2023 teamed with Carson Branstine.
Stoiana's success has continued into her senior campaign. Recently she earned her 14th SEC Player of the Week honor and she's coming off a decisive 6-4, 6-3 victory over No. 4 DJ Bennett of Auburn to improve to 15-3.
Looking to the next level, Stoiana claimed her first singles title at a professional event last October, winning the ITF W75 Edmond Open.
