No. 1 Seed Aggies Opens SEC Tournament Action Friday

AUBURN – The No. 1 Texas A&M women's tennis team starts its trek for a conference double with Friday's quarterfinal round of the SEC Tournament at Yarbrough Tennis Center.
The Aggies finished the regular season with a 23-2 record, including 14-1 in the SEC. In the conference finale, Texas A&M took down the No. 1 Georgia Bulldogs in an epic 4-3 win to claim the outright SEC crown.
Texas A&M looks to continue its dominance of an eight-match win streak in which the Aggies have outscored opponents 34-5.
The Maroon & White have five players slotted in the ITA Collegiate Rankings. Mary Stoiana comes in at No. 2 followed by Nicole Khirin (No. 17), Lucciana Perez (No. 51), Mia Kupres (No. 71), and closing it out is Daria Smetannikov (No. 102). The doubles duo of Stoiana/Perez checks in at No. 35.
Coming off her third SEC Freshman of the Week, Lexington Reed is an impactful tone-setter in the back half of the lineup. She finished the regular season with a 25-6 record, including 10-1 in SEC play.
The Aggies feature the SEC Player of the Week in Lucciana Perez after her clutch performance last week to close out No. 1 Georgia. She enters play on a 13-match win streak and owns a 12-0 mark in SEC play.

The Aggies have beaten the Longhorns twice this spring. They topped Texas 4-2 in the quarterfinal round of the ITA National Team Indoor Championships and the Maroon & White opened SEC play with a thrilling 4-3 victory over the Longhorns in Austin. The Aggies erased a 3-0 deficit in the win.
