Apr 18, 2025 | Baseball
The Maroon & White have now won nine of their last 10 contests and secured back-to-back road series victories against the No. 1 and No. 2 teams for the first time in program history.
LaViolette powered the Maroon & White offensively in the doubleheader as the junior went 4-for-8 with two walks, three homers, five RBI and five runs scored. Kaeden Kent followed with a 4-for-8 performance of his own to go along with two RBI, while Caden Sorrell and Wyatt Henseler also plated two runs each.
In the finale, Luke Jackson (1-0) was brilliant in relief as the redshirt sophomore struck out five over 3 2/3 scoreless frames en route to earning the win. Kaiden Wilson punched out one in a scoreless ninth to seal the victory.
Game One: Aggies 5, Razorbacks 11
Following a leadoff walk to Terrence Kiel II, LaViolette wasted no time putting the Aggies in front as the junior ripped a 375-foot, two-run homer through the wind in right. The Razorbacks (34-7, 13-5) quickly answered in the bottom half with a pair of sacrifice flies to trim the lead to 3-2.
In the second, Henseler belted his ninth home run of the season to push the advantage to 4-2. The graduate student's 63rd career homer traveled 379 feet to left and exited the bat at 98 mph.
After Arkansas registered a solo homer in the third and fourth to even the score, the Razorbacks used a six-run fifth to jump in front 10-4.
Blake Binderup cut the deficit in half in the eighth with a solo home run that traveled 351 feet to left. The long ball marked the fifth of the season for the redshirt sophomore. In the bottom half, the Razorbacks answered with an RBI groundout to make the final 11-5 in the opening game of the doubleheader.
