BRYAN-COLLEGE STATION – The No. 2 Texas A&M softball team lost its second SEC series of the season after falling in game two against No. 9 Arkansas, 7-4, Saturday evening at Davis Diamond.
Texas A&M (40-8, 13-6 SEC) punched first in the opening frame after Kennedy Powell reached on a throwing error and stole second before Mac Barbara blasted her ninth home run of the season. Aggie starter Sydney Lessentine walked the first two batters and forced a fly out before Emily Leavitt entered the circle to retire the next eight batters.
Arkansas (36-9, 12-8 SEC) led off with a home run in the top of the fourth before stringing together three consecutive singles to even the score, 2-2. The Razorbacks hung consecutive crooked frames plating three runs, while capitalizing on two Aggie errors in the fifth for a three-run lead. The ensuing inning, Arkansas added to the advantage with a two-out two-run home run for a 7-2 lead in the sixth.
The Maroon & White made a valiant effort in a late comeback after KK Dement and DeeDee Baldwin each earned two-out bases-loaded RBI walks to trim the deficit to 7-4, before a fly out ended the game.
