Men’s Tennis Selected to Host NCAA First and Second Rounds
Apr 28, 2025 | Men's Tennis
INDIANAPOLIS – The Texas A&M men's tennis team earned the No. 16 overall seed and will host the first and second rounds of the NCAA Championships at the Mitchell Tennis Center Saturday and Sunday (May 3-4), the NCAA announced Monday.
Joining the top-seed Aggies in the field are second-seeded Baylor, No. 3 Nebraska and No. 4 Rice.
"It looked like we possibly weren't going to host, and we were going to be on the road," head coach Steve Denton said. "We have got to take advantage of playing at home and play our best tennis at the end of the season. We are excited about being able to play here, especially for our seniors one last time in front of the 12th Man."
The 16-10 Aggies, who finished fourth in the SEC regular season, open the regional round against the Owls (16-9) for the second year in the row on Saturday, May 3, with a 1 p.m. first serve. If the Maroon & White advance, they would take on the winner of Baylor and Nebraska on Sunday.
Leading the Aggies into the tournament are freshman Theo Papamalamis and senior JC Roddick. Papamalamis earned first All-SEC honors, as well being named to the All-Freshman Team. Roddick earned his second SEC recognition after being named to the All-SEC Second Team.
General admission tickets to the first and second-round matches can be purchased in advance at https://12thmanfoundation.evenue.net/list/TN or during business hours by calling the ticket office at 1-888-99-AGGIE or 979-845-2311. General admission also will be available for purchase on match days at the Mitchell Tennis Center beginning one hour before the first match of the day. Students will be granted free admission with a valid student ID.
