Borovilos Punches Ticket to 80th U.S. Women’s Open

ELGIN, Ill. – Texas A&M's Vanessa Borovilos punched her ticket to the 80th U.S. Women's Open Monday after winning the U.S. Women's Open Local Qualifier at Elgin Country Club.
Borovilos is now the second Aggie from this past season's team to qualify for the Open, joining teammate Lauren Nguyen who earned her spot April 28 at the qualifier at St. Clair Country Club. The pair are also joined by former Texas A&M standout Hailee Cooper who will be making an appearance at the Open.
The Canadian shot a pair of 68s to earn a two-shot victory over 36 holes. Borovilos shot an 8-under 136 and secured one of two qualifying spots among the 78-golfer field.
Borovilos won the Chevron Collegiate this past season and was named SEC Freshman of the Week twice and SEC Golfer of the Week on one occasion. The Aggie was named to the All-SEC Second Team and was selected to the All-Freshman Team for her stellar rookie campaign.
The U.S. Women's Open will be played at Erin Hills in Erin, Wisconsin, May 29-June 1. Borovilos will be making her first major appearance alongside Nguyen and Cooper.
