LaViolette Tabbed Semifinalist for Dick Howser Trophy

DALLAS – Texas A&M outfielder Jace LaViolette has been named a semifinalist for the Dick Howser Trophy, as announced by the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association Thursday afternoon.
This marks the second straight season that LaViolette has been tabbed a semifinalist for the award, which is given in memory of the former Florida State All-America shortstop, major league player and manager who died of brain cancer in 1987. The trophy is regarded as baseball's most prestigious award. This year's 67 semifinalists come from 21 different conferences and 39 different schools.
In his junior campaign, LaViolette is slashing .274/.438/.609 to go along with nine doubles, 17 home runs and 55 RBI. The junior has started all 50 games in center field for the Aggies and has tallied a team-best 17 multi-RBI contests to go along with 15 multi-hit games and four multi-homer performances. LaViolette has also drawn a team-high 51 walks, which ranks 11th nationally.
The Katy, Texas, native is currently rewriting the Texas A&M record books as his 67 career home runs and 163 walks rank first in program history. In addition, the junior enters the weekend ranked fourth in RBI with 196, fourth in total bases with 438 and sixth in runs with 189.
The 2025 award will be presented at Charles Schwab Field in Omaha, the home of the College World Series for the 13th year. The winner also will be unveiled on MLB Network in a special national presentation at 9:30 a.m. (CDT) prior to the Friday, June 13, news conference in Omaha at 10 a.m. (CDT) before the first game of the 78th NCAA College World Series in the Schwab Field Media Room.
