May 27, 2025 | Women's Golf
CORAL SPRINGS, Fla. – Texas A&M's Cayetana Fernández García-Poggio and Vanessa Borovilos garnered WGCA Honorable Mention All-America honors, the organization announced Tuesday.
This marks the first All-America selection for both Fernández García-Poggio and Borovilos. They were the first pair of Aggies to earn the recognition in the same year since 2022 when Blanca Fernández García-Poggio and Jennie Park were honorable mention honorees.
Fernández García-Poggio ended the year ranked No. 28 on the Scoreboard Individual Rankings. She led the team with a 71.3 stroke average and was named to the All-SEC First Team. The sophomore won the "Mo" Morial Invitational and Charles Schwab Women's Collegiate and was selected as SEC Golfer of the Week twice.
Borovilos was second on the team with a 72.1 scoring average in her freshman campaign that resulted in an All-SEC Second Team recognition and a spot on the SEC All-Freshman Team. The Canadian won the Chevron Collegiate and produced three runner-up finishes. Borovilos is set to compete at the 2025 U.S. Women's Open May 29-June 1.
The Aggies ended the year ranked No. 20 in the country and earned a spot at a regional for the fourth straight season. Texas A&M is bringing in the No. 2 recruiting class in the country with three of the top 10 recruits in the 2025 class signed to the Maroon & White.
