BIRMINGHAM – Texas A&M Athletics was represented by 105 student-athletes on the 2025 Spring SEC Academic Honor Roll, SEC Commissioner Greg Sankey announced Thursday.
The Aggies reached triple digit honor roll selections on the spring list for the first time since 2022. This marks the sixth consecutive year with 90-or-more spring honorees.
"I want to applaud our student-athletes who earned a spot on the SEC Spring Academic Honor Roll this year," Director of Athletics Trev Alberts said. "This has been one of our most successful years academically for Texas A&M, and that is a testament to our staff's focus, along with our student athletes' commitment to excellence in the classroom. Congratulations to everyone involved as we celebrate this achievement."
The 2025 Spring SEC Academic Roll for Texas A&M was represented by eight sports. Women's track & field boasted 30 selections, while men's track & field had 21. Baseball and softball had 17 and 11, respectively, while men's tennis recorded eight and men's golf, women's golf and women's tennis all had six selections.
"As an athletics department, we are extremely proud of those student-athletes who achieved the spring honor roll," Executive Associate Athletic Director of Academics and Student-Athlete Engagement
Dr. Dan Childs said. "Student-athletes today are challenged with balancing a multitude of different things in their lives, both on the field and off. We're very fortunate that when prospective student-athletes are recruited to Texas A&M, they understand the athletic department's commitment to academic excellence, and they are committed to putting forth the effort in the classroom to consistently achieve a 3.0 or higher GPA. This past year, there were historic numbers of student-athletes who achieved honor roll status, and for that, they should be applauded. Congratulations again to the spring academic honor roll recipients."
The following criteria was followed:
(1) A student-athlete must have a grade point average of 3.00 or above for either the preceding academic year (two semesters or three quarters) or have a cumulative grade point average of 3.00 or above at the nominating institution.
(2) If a student-athlete attends summer school, his/her grade point average during the summer academic term must be included in the calculation used to determine eligibility for the Academic Honor Roll.
(3) Student-athletes eligible for the Honor Roll include those receiving an athletics scholarship, recipients of an athletics award (i.e., letter winner), and non-scholarship student-athletes who have been on a varsity team for two seasons.
(4) Prior to being nominated, a student-athlete must have successfully completed 24 semester or 36 quarter hours of non-remedial academic credit toward a baccalaureate degree at the nominating institution.
(5) The student-athlete must have been a member of a varsity team for the sport's entire NCAA Championship segment.
