Reed-Adams, Zuhn Named to 2025 Outland Trophy Watch List
Jul 29, 2025 | Football
DALLAS – Texas A&M football offensive line standouts Ar'Maj Reed-Adams and Trey Zuhn III were named to the preseason watch list for the 2025 Outland Trophy, which is annually presented to the best interior lineman in college football.
Both Reed-Adams and Zuhn are returning starters from last year's Aggie offensive front that paved the way for a balanced offense that produced over 2,500 rushing and passing yards. The Aggies were one of 18 2,500/2,500 teams in FBS, including one of three in the SEC. Texas A&M had the SEC's No. 2 rushing offense, averaging 195.5 yards per game and producing 27 rushing scores.
Reed-Adams, a graduate from Dallas, is a preseason All-America pick at offensive guard by Pro Football Focus after starting all 12 regular season games in his first season in Aggieland. He posted a sparkling 85.9 run block grade by PFF last year, second-best among returning offensive guards nationally, and compiled the team's top offensive grade among all positions. The 6-5, 330-pound Reed-Adams allowed just a single sack last year and led the team with fewest pressures allowed among players with more than 200 pass blocks.
Zuhn, a fifth-year senior from Fort Collins, Colorado, leads the team with 37 career starts as he enters his fourth year as the Aggies' fixture at left tackle. A preseason first-team All-SEC selection by Athlon and Phil Steele, the 6-7, 315-pounder played a team-high 882 offensive snaps last year and graded as the Aggies' top pass blocker at 80.8 according to PFF. On the field for a team-high 417 pass plays, Zuhn allowed just two sacks and was flagged for a penalty just twice in 13 games.
The preseason watch list features 50 returning standout interior linemen representing nine of the FBS conferences and Independents. There are 16 guards and 15 offensive tackles on this year's list to go with 10 defensive tackles and nine centers.
The recipient of the 2025 Outland Trophy will be announced on The Home Depot College Football Awards, live on ESPN Friday, Dec. 12. The official trophy presentation to the winner will be made at the Outland Trophy Awards Dinner sponsored by Werner Enterprises and produced by the Greater Omaha Sports Committee Jan. 21, 2026 in Omaha, Nebraska.
The Football Writers Association of America will announce six or seven Outland Trophy semifinalists Nov. 19 at a reception in Omaha, and those players will then be pared down to three finalists announced Nov. 25 on ESPN. The Outland Trophy winner is chosen from those finalists who will be part of the annual FWAA All-America Team. The FWAA All-America Committee, after voting input from the entire membership, selects a 26-man first team and eventually the three Outland finalists. Committee members, then by individual ballot, select the winner. Only interior linemen on offense or defense are eligible for the award; ends and edge rushers are not eligible.
Players may be added or removed from the watch list during the course of the season. For a third year now, the FWAA will announce an Outland Trophy National Player of the Week each Tuesday this season. If not already on the watch list, each week's honored player will be added at that time.
The Outland Trophy, celebrating its 80th year since its founding, is the third-oldest major college football award. Created in 1946 when Dr. John Outland presented the FWAA with a financial contribution to initiate the award, the Outland Trophy has been given to the best interior lineman in college football ever since Dr. Outland, an All-American at the University of Pennsylvania in the late 1890s, eventually took up practice in Kansas City, Mo. An avid outdoorsman, Dr. Outland believed linemen did not get the credit they deserved and wanted an award to recognize them.
