NAOTB: Holly Storer
Jackson Osborn, Texas A&M Athletics Communications
12thMan.com chatted with Holly Storer, a dynamic presence on the front line from Keller, Texas. The freshman forward is dangerous anywhere in the attacking third.
How has the adjustment to Aggieland been so far?
It’s definitely a lot different than being at home and playing regular soccer back there. It’s been a lot to take in, but I’ve really liked it here. I’ve enjoyed playing with new teammates and meeting new people, it’s been a lot of fun.
How different does life in Aggieland feel compared to Keller?
It feels like one big family here. Keller is like that too, but here I’m around so many more people all the time, constantly seeing new faces.
As a forward, what’s been the biggest challenge stepping up to the SEC level?
The defenders. They’re bigger, stronger, faster, and more talented than what I faced in high
school.

How would you describe your style of play to Aggie fans seeing you for the first time?
I like to move the ball quickly, look for crosses and shots, and keep the attack flowing. I try to have good vision so I always know my next move with the ball.
What’s the biggest difference in game speed from high school to college?
Definitely the speed of play. Everyone is faster, more skilled, and makes decisions quicker.
What strengths do you bring to the team?
My ability to attack and create goal-scoring opportunities.

What personal goals have you set for your freshman season?
To get goals and assists, just contribute as much as I can to help us score and win games.
The Aggie style includes the forwards pressing and defending. How has that adjustment been?
In the past I have defended in a different structure, but this is a little new. We’re doing stuff differently than I’m used to. But I’ve been able to adjust to it and it hasn’t been too difficult. It’s been challenging to work with the new players to learn the structure. We’ve been able to improve our defending a lot in just the months I’ve been here.
What’s the best piece of advice you’ve gotten from the coaching staff so far?
Play as a team. When we’re connected both defensively and offensively, everything becomes easier.

What checked all the boxes for A&M?
The culture. The team and coaches were so welcoming, and everyone here pushes me to be better.
What’s one thing about A&M you didn’t know until you got here?
How genuinely nice everyone is, and how much it feels like one big family.
How do you mentally prepare for a game day at Ellis Field?
I usually take some time alone to visualize what I want to accomplish during the game—what I want to do and how I want to do it.

When you go home to Keller, what’s the first restaurant or place you’ll visit?
I always go to Chili’s with my dad.
What’s your degree in and what are your plans after college?
Right now, I’m in general business. After college, I’d love to keep playing soccer, but I’m also interested in real estate or another business field.
What does it mean to you to wear the Maroon & White?
It means a lot. I’ve always wanted to play at a big SEC school, and representing something bigger than myself is really special to me.
