Soccer Faces Mile High Test at Denver
Aug 27, 2025 | Soccer
DENVER – The Texas A&M soccer team makes its first road trip of the season with Thursday's match against the Denver Pioneers. First kick at University of Denver Stadium is 5 p.m.
The match is a battle of unbeatens. The Aggies enter the fray with a 2-0-2-mark, notching wins against Lamar (1-0) and UConn (2-1) along with draws versus Baylor (1-1) and Texas State (1-1). The Pioneers are 1-0-3, opening the campaign with a 2-1 victory over Air Force followed by ties against Colorado College (0-0), Baylor (0-0) and Seatle (1-1).
Trinity Buchanan has scored in the last three matches, the first Aggie to accomplish the feat since October 2022. If she finds the back of the net against Denver, Buchanan will become the first A&M player with goals in four consecutive matches since Shea Groom in 2014.
This marks just the second matchup between Texas A&M and Denver. The Pioneers won the initial contest, 3-2, last season at Ellis Field. The match was tied 2-2 at the intermission despite a 13-7 shot advantage by Texas A&M. MaKhiya McDonald and Allison Lowrey registered goals for the Aggies, but Denver scored the game-winning goal in the 53rd minute and held on down the stretch.
The Aggies' backline has helped spark the scoring in 2025, contributing assists on four of their five goals. Hattie Patterson leads the way with two helpers while Riley Crooks and Mia Scranton have added one apiece.
Bella Yakel has played all 360 minutes to lead the Aggies. The starting center back entered the campaign as the most seasoned A&M player having battled 4,132 minutes during her three seasons at Portland. The senior defender has 61 Division I caps on her resume, including 53 starts.
The match airs on Altitude Sports with a digital stream simulcast available on the subscription-based Summit League Network. Fans can listen locally on Willy 1550 and worldwide on the 12th Man Mobile app as David Ellis (play-by-play) and Thomas Dick (color) paint the picture.
