Aug 04, 2025 | Soccer
BRYAN-COLLEGE STATION – The Texas A&M soccer team hosts the Rice Owls for an exhibition match Tuesday at 7:30 p.m. on Ellis Field.
Admission to the match is free. For the exhibition matches only, fans are invited to bring in their own food and beverages. With the exception of bottled water for purchase, concessions will not be available.
The Maroon & White return 10 letterwinners from last year, highlighted by starting goalkeeper Sydney Fuller who earned SEC Freshman of the Week on two occasions in 2024.
The new-look Aggies welcome 10 transfers this offseason, including All-Mountain West Conference midfielder Trinity Buchanan, Southland Conference Goalkeeper of the Year Erica Defferding, and All-AAC forward Leah Diaz, All-Big West First Team forward Kaylee Noble and West Coast Conference All-Freshman defender Isabella Yakel.
Texas A&M is excited with the addition of five talented freshmen, including Bailey Cate, Riley Crooks, Lucy Landherr, Tessa Lavender and Holly Storer. Redshirt freshmen Emma Hoang and Mary Claire Torn are also expected to make contributions after missing their rookie campaigns due to injury.
Rice is coming off its most successful season since the elongated 2020-21 Covid campaign. The Owls posted a 12-6-2 overall record, including a 5-4-1 mark in the American Athletic Conference. Rice returns leading scorer Leah Chancey who tallied 22 points on nine goals and three assists last season. The Owls also welcome back four players who tied for second with nine points apiece, including Allie Love, who notched a team-high seven assists, along with Jules Johnston, Camille Quarterman and Taylor Rish.
The match is the first of two exhibition contests for Texas A&M. The Aggies host UTRGV for a 7:30 p.m. match Saturday. The Maroon & White open the regular-season Thursday, Aug. 15 with a home match against Baylor slated for 7:30 p.m.
