Sep 03, 2025 | Soccer
NACOGDOCHES – The Texas A&M soccer team hits the road Thursday for a Lone Star State clash with Stephen F. Austin. Kick-off is set for 7 p.m. at the SFA Soccer Field.
The Aggies enter the contest riding high after a 7-1 victory over Lafayette at Ellis Field, their highest-scoring output since a 10-0 triumph over Texas Southern in 2023. The standout performance was highlighted by a hat trick from Kaylee Noble. With the win, Texas A&M (3-0-2) extended its season-opening unbeaten streak to five matches, marking the program's best start since 2022.
Noble landed SEC Offensive Player of the Week and TopDrawerSoccer.com Team of the Week for her stellar performance against the Leopards.
Bella Yakel has played all 450 minutes to lead the Aggies. The starting center back entered the campaign as the most-seasoned Texas A&M player having played 4,132 during her three seasons at Portland. The senior defender has 62 Division I caps on her resume, including 54 starts.
Thursday's trip to Nacogdoches adds a new wrinkle to the series history between the Aggies and Lumberjacks. This week marks the first-ever visit to SFA for the Maroon & White. The teams have met five times previously, all in College Station, with Texas A&M holding a perfect 5-0 record. The series began in 1995 with a 10-0 Aggie victory and was last played in 2014, a 1-0 decision in favor of A&M.
SFA enters the match with a 1-2-2 record. The Lumberjacks opened with a 1-1 draw against Sam Houston before falling 3-2 at Tulsa. They played another draw on the road at Arkansas State, 2-2, before suffering a 5-1 setback at Texas State. Most recently, SFA collected its first win of the season with a 1-0 triumph at UTEP, keyed by an early goal from Sydney Williams and a career night from goalkeeper Sierra McCluer, who tied her career high with 10 saves to preserve the shutout.
