No. 9 Volleyball Faces Gamecocks in Road Matchup

COLUMBIA, S.C. – The No. 9 Texas A&M volleyball team hits the road to face the Gamecocks Wednesday evening at the Carolina Volleyball Center with first serve set for 6 p.m.
The Maroon & White improved to 2-0 in SEC play following a dominant sweep over Vanderbilt. The efficiency stood out in the contest for the Aggies, as they hit .374 percent as a unit with 44 kills paced by Logan Lednicky's 15 kills at a staggering .480 clip.
Ifenna Cos-Okpalla continued to impress on the defensive side of the net, blocking five swings which marked her seventh game this season with five or more. Her performance over the opening weekend of league play earned her SEC Player and Defensive Player of the Week honors, becoming the first Aggie to receive conference recognition this season as she added another 10 blocks, 15 kills and five aces over the first two league fixtures.
Texas A&M continues to impress as a group offensively across the conference, as they lead all teams in assists per set (13.70). Maddie Waak is the conductor of the high-flying group, leading both the conference and nation individually with 11.51 dimes per frame while helping the team operate at high efficiency with a .293 hitting percentage which is good for fourth in the league.

Texas A&M and South Carolina gear up for the 22nd meeting in their history. The Aggies boast a dominant 18-3 record in the previous 21 meetings, including an eight-match winning streak and a 10-2 ledger when playing in Columbia.
The Gamecocks enter the match 6-6 overall and 0-2 in SEC play, while the Aggies stand 10-2 overall and 2-0 in the league. The Maroon & White light up the stat sheet when comparing the two programs, as they lead in averages per set as a group in kills, assists, hitting percentage, opponent hitting percentage, digs and blocks, while the Gamecocks hold the upper hand in aces.
