BRYAN-COLLEGE STATION – The No. 2 Texas A&M women's tennis team lifted the lid on the spring campaign with victories over Tulane (7-0) and Lubbock Christian (7-0) in Friday's action at Mitchell Tennis Center.
Texas A&M stretched its home win streak to 73 matches.

The Aggies made quick work of Tulane in doubles action. The No. 76 tandem of Violeta Martinez/Anna Perelman blanked Natalia Perez/Leigh van Zyl on court 2, 6-0 and Lexington Reed/Daria Smetannikov toppled Micah Pierce/Delanie Tribby, 6-2.

Texas A&M's lead over Tulane ballooned to 3-0 as Perelman and No. 34 Mia Kupres finished in rapid succession on court 6 and court 1, respectively. Perelman beat Diana Badalyan, 6-2, 6-0, while Kupres topped Campbell Ricci, 6-1, 6-1.

Lucciana Perez clinched the victory over Tulane with a 6-3, 6-3 triumph over Summer Chandler on court 2. The teams played out the remainder of the matches with Violeta Martinez victorious on court 5, Lexington Reed winning on court 3 and Daria Smetannikov wrapping the shutout on court 4.

The Aggies posted 6-0 doubles wins on both court 1 with Kupres/Perez and court 3 with Martinez/Perelman to start the Lubbock Christian match.

Perez pounced on AnaMarie Zoric on court 1, 6-0, 6-1 and Tilde Stromquist recorded her first dual win of the season with a 6-1, 6-0 victory over Ana Sofia Valero Treviño on court 6. Martinez prevailed over Axelle Jacquemin on court 3, 6-1, 6-1, to put the match in the bag. Smetannikov (court 4), Perelman (court 5) and Reed (court 2) each recorded their second singles wins of the day to finish the action.
