DALLAS – Texas A&M infielder Chris Hacopian and outfielder Caden Sorrell were honored as Preseason All-Americans by the National College Baseball Writers Association, announced Friday.
Â
Hacopian was selected to the second team and Sorrell was named to the third team. Both sluggers add to their list of preseason accolades after earning All-America distinctions from the other three major publications.
Â
Ranked as the No. 16 draft prospect by MLB Pipeline, Hacopian joins the batting order in Aggieland following back-to-back highly productive offensive campaigns at Maryland. In 2025, Hacopian slashed .375/.502/.656 and blasted 14 home runs. He walked 40 times against 19 strikeouts and drove in 61 runs while scoring 51 of his own.
Â
The Potomac, Maryland, native has started all 107 games he has appeared in and owns a .347 career batting average. Hacopian has drilled 29 home runs and 22 doubles and plated 103 runs over his two-year collegiate career, earning All-Big Ten honors in both seasons.
Â
Sorrell, MLB Pipeline's No. 20 draft prospect, returns to action after missing the first half of 2025 with an injury. In just 26 starts last year, he registered a slash line of .337/.430/.789 with a 1.219 OPS. The junior blasted 12 home runs, drove in 32 RBI and scored 23 runs. Sorrell logged 11 multi-RBI contests and was named the Marion Pugh Most Valuable Player at the end of the season.
Â
Over his two years in the Maroon & White, Sorrell owns a .296 career batting average in 88 games with 75 RBI, 67 runs scored and 23 home runs. Sorrell was also tabbed to the Preseason All-SEC First Team by the league's 16 head coaches.
Â
Texas A&M baseball begins the regular season on Friday, Feb. 13, against Tennessee Tech. First pitch is slated for 6 p.m. at Olsen Field at Blue Bell Park.
