MELBOURNE, Fla. – Texas A&M's Vanessa Borovilos won the Individual Championship at the Moon Golf Invitational Tuesday, leading the No. 6 Aggies to a runner-up finish at the Suntree Country Club.

"Auburn played incredibly well on the front nine, but we had a great finish that I was very proud of," Head coach Gerrod Chadwell said. "We can take so many positives from this week. I think that we got better and I am excited that it is still just February."

Borovilos earned her first victory of the season and second of her collegiate career. The sophomore shot a 7-under 209 en route to the triumph, beating second place Molly Brown Davidson of Auburn by four shots. The Canadian was the only golfer in the field to shoot under par for all three rounds, capping off her win with a 1-under 71 on Tuesday.

"V looked so comfortable today," Chadwell added. "That is a sign of her maturity. She slept on a lead and was so impressive today. It was awesome to see her coming down 18 and wanting to know how her teammates were doing, which is a sign of her leadership."

The Maroon & White collected its sixth top three finish as a team this year. The Aggies shot 4-under 860 thru 54 holes and fell to No. 8 Auburn (-7) who claimed the top spot. Texas A&M defeated three top-10 teams and 10 top-25 squads at the tournament.

Texas A&M fell behind by as many as nine strokes at one point in the round, but had a late flurry to get within striking distance. Sky Sudberry had three birdies in her final five holes and Brynn Kort and Natalie Yen turned in birdies on No. 18 to cut the lead to three before the tournament concluded.

Yen logged a top-10 finish after shooting even par in the final round. Yen shot 1-over 217 for the week and took home a share of 10th. Sudberry tied for 20th at 3-over 219 and Luise Reau earned a piece of 37th at 6-over 222. Kort rounded out the lineup tied for 42nd.

The Aggies return to action March 9-10 at the GameAbove Invitational in Rolling Hills Estates, California.
