Moiben Shatters School Record on Opening Day of Raleigh Relays

RALEIGH – Texas A&M track & field's Michael Moiben shattered the 10,000m school record which stood for 41 years on the opening day of the Raleigh Relays Thursday at the Paul Derr Track & Field facility.
 
Moiben capped off the Maroon & White's first day of the meet in record-breaking fashion, as he downed Texas A&M Hall of Fame member Arturo Barrios' 10,000m school record by over 13 seconds. The standout freshman crossed the line in 28:28.90 in his collegiate outdoor debut, which secured him fourth overall in the event and first among freshmen. Jack Johnston also had a productive day finishing with a time of 29:33.79 which was good for 33^rd.
 
The 1,500m duo of Youssef Asslouj and Ondrej Gajdos started the day with one all-time mark and a personal best. Asslouj crossed the line with a time of 3:44.11 to enter the A&M all-time list at No. 9 and finish 33^rd in the event. Gajdos was close behind with a career-best mark of 3:44.61 which ranked him 36^th.
 
Victor Kibiego rounded out the results, logging a time of 14:09.40 in the men's 5,000m which landed him 51st.
