No. 10 Baseball Tops LSU, 5-2, to Deliver Series Sweep

BATON ROUGE – No. 10 Texas A&M downed LSU, 5-2, to capture the series sweep Sunday afternoon from Alex Box Stadium. The sweep marked the first for the Aggies (31-7, 12-5) over the Tigers (23-18, 6-12) since joining the SEC.
 
Weston Moss was tabbed the starter and worked 4.1 scoreless innings. The right-hander allowed just three hits, two walks and struck out five batters. Gavin Lyons (7-0) earned the win out of relief, tossing 2.2 scoreless innings. The Guilford, Connecticut, native did not allow a hit and struck out two hitters.
 
Caden Sorrell put the Maroon & White on the board first with a solo homer in the opening frame. In the second inning, Bear Harrison made it 2-0 on a sacrifice fly. Chris Hacopian doubled the Aggies' advantage in the third inning with a two-run shot to left field.
 
Gavin Grahovac tacked on another score in the fifth inning with an RBI single through the left side.
 
LSU spotted two runs in the eighth inning but could not overcome the five-run deficit.
 
Clayton Freshcorn worked the final 2.0 innings, allowing two runs, one earned. The righty matched a season-high with four punchouts.

• The series sweep marked the first for the Maroon & White over the Tigers in a three-game set since joining the SEC and the first at Alex Box Stadium since Tom Chandler's Aggies in 1978.
• Sorrell extended his on-base streak to 32 games.
• The junior's home run in the first inning was the 41st of his career, giving him sole possession of 7th on Texas A&M's all-time leaderboard.
• Grahovac extended his hitting streak to 13 games and has reached safely in 12 straight contests.
• The junior logged his sixth consecutive multi-hit game and his team-best 19^th multi-hit performance of the season. He has multiple hits in 11 SEC games.
• Duer extended his on-base streak to 21 games and has reached base in each of the last 17 SEC contests.
• Both Grahovac and Sorrell have reached base in all 17 conference games.
• Kellner has reached base safely in 37 of 38 games this season.
• Harrison extended his on-base streak to 13 games.
• The Maroon & White pitching staff logged double digit strikeouts for the 13th time this season.
• Lyons earned his fifth win in conference play.
