COLLEGE STATION – Matt Fast earned a promotion to associate head coach of the Texas A&M men's golf team, head coach Brian Kortan announced Monday.
Â
"Matt is a great representative of Texas A&M and the Aggie men's golf team," Kortan said. "He's a tremendous asset in all facets of the program. He's a trusted voice not only to me, but to the players, recruits and their families. I'm extremely excited about the future of this program and I am pleased Matt will continue to be a big part of our success."
Â
The Aggies have experienced loads of success during Fast's five seasons as an assistant coach. The Maroon & White have claimed 14 tournament titles during the span, including three or more wins in four of those seasons. They boast 16 PING All-Central Region, nine GCAA All-America Scholar and seven PING All-America selections with Fast on staff.
Â
Texas A&M has advanced to the SEC Tournament semifinals four times and earned an NCAA Championship spot all five seasons during Fast's tenure.
Â
Fast helped the Aggies earn three victories this season, including at the 2nd Swing Gopher Invitational, Steelwood Collegiate and Louisiana Classics. They also finished runner-up at the John A. Burns Intercollegiate and the NCAA Bryan Regional. Texas A&M also placed third at three events, including the Marquette Intercollegiate, SeaBest Invitational and the Tar Heel Intercollegiate.
Â
Under his tutelage, Phichaksn Maichon finished runner-up at the 2025 NCAA Championships, the highest finish in program history.
Â
"I'm thankful to Coach Kortan and our administration for their commitment to our student-athletes and for the confidence they have placed in me," Fast said. "I'm excited to continue cultivating the championship culture and raising the standard of excellence at Texas A&M."
Â
Still an active participant in the game, Fast qualified for the 125th U.S. Amateur last year at The Olympic Club in San Francisco.
