MLB Draft Alert: Chris Hacopian Picked 11th Overall

PHILADELPHIA- Texas A&M second baseman Chris Hacopian was selected by the Washington Nationals with the 11th overall pick of the 2026 Major League Baseball Draft on Saturday from the Pennsylvania Convention Center in Philadelphia.

With the selection, the Aggies have produced a first-round draft pick in three consecutive seasons for the first time in program history. Hacopian is the 16th player in program history to be taken in the first round of the MLB Draft. At 11th overall, Hacopian becomes the highest drafted position player in program history.

Hacopian started all 42 games he appeared in for the Aggies during the 2026 season, slashing .319/.405/.578 to go along with 10 doubles, 11 homers and 41 RBI. The junior totaled 15 multi-hit performances paired with nine multi-RBI contests and one multi-homer performance.

During his lone season in Aggieland, Hacopian helped lead the Aggies to the postseason and defeat Texas State during the College Station Regional where he knocked three hits, including two doubles with four RBI. The junior was named to the All-SEC First Team after the 2026 season and garnered All-America honors from Baseball America.
