COLLEGE STATION--All-American pitcher Clayton Freshcorn announced on social media on Wednesday that he would forego playing in the minor leagues and return to Texas A&M for the 2027 season.
A 19th-round selection of the St. Louis Cardinals in this past weekend's MLB Draft, Freshcorn complied a 2.82 ERA across 54.1 innings pitched in 2026. He cemented himself in Texas A&M record books with 12 saves on the year, tying for the third-most in a single season in program history. The Waller, Texas, native was also a finalist for the NCBWA Stopper of the Year Award following his dominant campaign.
