DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – Texas A&M women’s golf was one of five collegiate programs selected to compete the inaugural Nanea Cup March 11-14, 2027, the LPGA announced on Tuesday.
The Nanea Cup and the LPGA are seeking to bring together the world’s best 95 Tour athletes and elite collegiate golfers in a first-of-its-kind competition, celebrating both the present and future of women’s golf. The other participating universities are Stanford, Texas, Arkansas and UCLA.
“As a coach, I look at this as an incredible opportunity to get our young ladies and our university global exposure,” Head Coach Gerrod Chadwell said. “Being only one of five teams invited is special and shows how far our program has come. For the young ladies to get to play alongside professionals is fulfilling a dream. This is what they talk about and are working towards. They get to see it firsthand and see how they measure up to that level play.”
All competitors will play the first two rounds on Thursday and Friday. Following Friday’s round, the field will be cut to the low 50 players and ties. Collegiate players who do not make the cut will still complete their third and final round on Saturday to determine the collegiate team champion, while those who make the cut will also advance to Sunday’s final round alongside LPGA Tour athletes.
Since Chadwell arrived in Aggieland in 2021, he has taken the program to new heights, reaching match play at NCAAs three times, including two semifinal berths. He also led the Aggies to the 2023 SEC Championship and two No. 1 seeds at NCAA regionals.
Chadwell has guided one golfer to an Individual National Championship and one to an ANNIKA Award Finalist selection, while also boasting 10 All-America players since his appointment.
Last season, Texas A&M won a program record-tying five tournament titles and earned a No. 1 seed at the NCAA Waco Regional. The team finished the season ranked No. 6 in the country and returns the entire lineup that played in the postseason during the 2025-26 campaign.
