The eyes of the softball world were on Davis Diamond this weekend as Aggieland played host to the AUSL Playoffs and Championship Series.
A near-capacity crowd watched Thursday night's play-in game, then a pair of sellouts and national television audiences--including the first-ever professional softball game to be broadcast on network TV--took in the championship series on Saturday and Sunday.
Congrats to the Utah Talons who claimed their second straight AUSL title with a sweep of the Chicago Bandits.
Texas A&M was loudly and proudly represented all weekend long, and not only by the 12th Man in the stands. Mac Barbara was in the lineup for the Bandits all weekend, while Tori Vidales and Kennedy Powell played for the Portland Cascade in Thursday's wild 11-inning play-in showdown.
The Cascade are run by general manager Jami Lobpries '08 who captained the franchise to the playoffs in their inaugural season in the league.
Last but not least, Aggie hall of famer Amanda Scarborough '08 was in the booth all weekend long on the call for ESPN and ABC.
