Aggie Men’s Golf Announces Challenging 2026 Fall Schedule

By Kelly Shipp

COLLEGE STATION – Texas A&M head men's golf coach Brian Kortan announced the schedule for the Aggies' 2026 fall season, a slate that features competition at several of the nation's premier collegiate events and on some of the most acclaimed championship courses in the country.

The Aggies open the season Sept. 14-16 at the sixth annual Jackson T. Stephens Cup, one of collegiate golf’s premier events. The 2026 event will be hosted in the state of Texas for the first time since 2023 at PGA Frisco in Frisco, Texas. The event will be contested on Fields Ranch East, the championship course that hosted the 2023 PGA of America Senior PGA Championship and is scheduled to host multiple future PGA of America championships, including the 2027 and 2034 PGA Championships. The state-of-the-art golf destination has quickly become one of the sport's premier championship venues. The 2026 field includes the Aggies, Texas, Houston, Rice, SMU and Utah.

Texas A&M returns to one of college golf's most prestigious annual events Sept. 18-20 at the 20th annual Fighting Illini Invitational at historic Olympia Fields Country Club in Olympia Fields, Illinois. Widely regarded as one of America's greatest championship courses, Olympia Fields' North Course has hosted two U.S. Opens, two PGA Championships, the 2020 BMW Championship and the 2023 U.S. Amateur, while regularly ranking among the nation's top golf courses.

The fall campaign continues Oct. 4-5 at the Fighting Irish Classic in Notre Dame, Indiana. The tournament is played at the Warren Golf Course, a Coore & Crenshaw design that has earned national recognition for its strategic layout and has hosted numerous NCAA regional and championship events.

Texas A&M returns to the Lone Star State Oct. 19-21 for the inaugural Abilene Christian Intercollegiate at Halbert National in Granbury, Texas. The recently renovated municipal championship course has emerged as one of Texas' premier public golf facilities, providing a demanding test through its modern design and championship-caliber conditioning. The three-day event will feature nine men’s and nine women’s teams with three rounds of stroke play with all three rounds being shown live on the Golf Channel.

The fall concludes Oct. 31-Nov. 1 at the Steelwood Collegiate Invitational in Loxley, Alabama. Steelwood Country Club, designed by Hall of Fame architect Jerry Pate, is consistently recognized among Alabama's top golf courses. Last season the Aggies won this event, shooting a 10-under 566 in the shortened two round event.

Quoting Coach Kortan

“Always look forward  to getting the year started. It’s a challenging schedule for sure . Both Texas tournaments are televised which is exciting.  The other three events have great fields. Each tournament will be a great test.  Gig’Em!”
