TRALEE, Ireland – Texas A&M’s Cayetana Fernández García-Poggio and Vanessa Borovilos helped lead Team International to a 30.5-29.5 victory over Team USA at the 2026 Arnold Palmer Cup Sunday at the Tralee Golf Links.
Fernández García-Poggio was unbeaten for Team International with three victories in her first three matches and a tie on the final day in her singles bout. Borovilos secured one triumph and had two ties with one loss. Altogether, the Aggie pair contributed 5.5 points to the championship effort.
Borovilos was the clinching half point for Team International after tying her singles match against SMU’s Mackenzie Lee. Borovilos never trailed in her match and was 1UP heading into the final hole, which secured the title for the internationals despite ultimately tying with Lee after 18 holes.
“This is definitely a lot more stressful,” Borovilos said on Golf Channel after the victory. “Playing with Daniel (Bennett) the first day, Lauren (Kim) and Luke (Poulter), I felt so bad if I hit a bad shot because its for them not for me. To be able to have all of them sitting there after the match was amazing. It is about so much more than the individual. We only get this a couple times a year, so we really try to enjoy it.”
Fernández García-Poggio and Arizona State’s Patience Rhodes were the only golfers for Team International to secure 3.5 points for the squad. Borovilos and Fernández García-Poggio join Jennie Park (2023) as Aggie women’s golfers to win the Arnold Palmer Cup and the first to do so for Team International.
The duo of Fernández García-Poggio and Borovilos were selected to the 2026 All-SEC First Team and led Texas A&M to a No. 1 seed at the Waco Regional this past season.
