Volleyball Earns Highest Preseason Ranking in Program History

By Sam Thornton

LEXINGTON, Ky. – The Texas A&M volleyball team earned its highest preseason ranking in program history, as it was tabbed at No. 8 in the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Coaches’ Poll, the organization announced Monday.

Coming off their 2025 national title, the Maroon & White made it back-to-back years with a program-best preseason ranking. Last season the Aggies ranked No. 9 prior to the start of the season.

Texas A&M is slated to face seven ranked opponents in its non-conference schedule, including four in the top 10. In their opening weekend of action, the Maroon & White face No. 7 Louisville Friday, Aug. 21 and follow that up Sunday, Aug. 23 versus No. 11 SMU.

The Aggies are coming off their largest single-season win total since 1984, as the group finished the year with a 29-4 ledger and a 14-1 record in league play. The program returns eight athletes from the championship-winning team, including NCAA Tournament Most Outstanding Player Kyndal Stowers. The Maroon & White welcomed eight new faces for the 2026 season, consisting of four freshmen and four transfers.
