Recall: Uncharted Territory

Welcome to the premiere edition of Recall, titled Uncharted Territory.

It's the story of one of the greatest football teams to ever take the field at this school, the 2012 Aggies. They won 11 games, including the Cotton Bowl, entering the program's first season in the SEC. They were picked fifth in the Western Division of the conference yet finished fifth in the nation, and they boasted the Heisman Trophy winner in quarterback Johnny Manziel.

But this team was so much more than just Johnny. When I remember this group, I often think about the senior class who went through just about everything even before entering the SEC. A lot of weight was put on these guys, asking them to lead A&M into the nation's toughest conference. But as you'll find, we were fortunate this group had some broad shoulders and walked tall.

No matter how much you put on them, the 2012 seniors are a group the 12th Man certainly can appreciate. Going into this season, the Aggies weren't just changing conferences. They had a new coach--and that quarterback that won the Heisman. No one had any idea what he could be leading up to the opener. For all of these reasons, these Aggies weren't given much of a chance.

Yet, led by these veterans, they ventured into Uncharted Territory.
